Country Grounds Service has provided a full grounds maintenance service to Thomas Boughey Academy for around 6 years.
We were recently approached by the Head Teacher and site manager to come up with a design to transform an unsafe, unused piece of land into an area to be beneficial to the school pupils, staff and visitors. After a few consultations and different ideas we came up with the idea of using printed concrete to create a seating and leisure area for pupils to have a peaceful lunch and an extra area to socialize and spend time with friends away from the often noisy hustle and bustle of a school playground.
Printed concrete is suitable for driveways, or just as a pathway or patio/seating area, it is very long lasting, very little maintenance required, no more weeding! And with a fantastic range of colours and patterns available there is something for everyone. It can be designed to almost any shape and the finished product is truly stunning.
There was a set of steps that were crumbling away and we repaired them and refaced them with natural Indian stone which gave a great contrast to the printed concrete. We centralized an existing tree to the path area an supplied and fitted a custom made powder coated metal tree seat, which can have school logos, memorials, and names of schools, built into the seat itself and used as a fantastic finishing touch.
